Who are we?
Since 1988, our banking cooperative has brought together professionals and associations to build a fairer and more sustainable society. A benchmark of ethical finance in France, we count 49 000 cooperative members, 80 000 customers and more than 100 employees, and we operate at the heart of an ecosystem of partners committed to the ecological and social transition.
Having become, over the years, the French benchmark in financing the ecological and social transition, La Nef today finances the organic sector, renewable energy, social entrepreneurship, soft mobility, the non-profit sector, ethical fashion, integration through economic activity, natural cosmetics, fair trade, public services, performing arts, publishing, etc.
While the impact of the major French banks on the climate no longer needs to be demonstrated, it is necessary and vital to transform the world of finance, for more justice, transparency, and environmental and social responsibility. At La Nef, as an independent ethical bank, we want to offer an alternative to the current financial model.

Since its creation, La Nef has financed only projects rooted in the real economy that have a strong social and ecological added value. To report on its activity, it is the only French banking institution to practise full transparency on its financing, which allows everyone to measure the impact of their savings.
At the start of 2021, La Nef wanted to objectify the carbon impact of its financing activity by carrying out its first Bilan Carbone. Supported by the firm Carbone 4 Finance for this work, La Nef was able to establish clearly that it is the financial institution with the lowest carbon impact in France.
In France, La Nef is the only genuine solidarity bank. A pioneer of responsible savings and solidarity finance for 35 years, it is also ESUS-approved and organised under a cooperative status.
