Why draw up a specification with eco-responsible criteria for your suppliers? Purchasing is an important lever of companies' CSR policy. It is therefore important to integrate it into an eco-responsible and reasoned approach. Which eco-responsible criteria should be highlighted? Here are a few criteria to include in an eco-responsible specification, to be validated by suppliers: - The use of durable, recycled materials or materials from certified sustainable sources (for example, FSC for wood, Recycled Content Certification for recycled materials) in the production process, for the product itself or its packaging. - Choosing suppliers that hold recognised environmental certifications, such as the European Ecolabel, ISO 14001, or other certifications specific to the sector of activity. - Requiring compliance with ethical standards on working conditions, fair pay and respect for workers' fundamental rights, in line with international standards. - Asking for full transparency across the supply chain, including the traceability of raw materials, to ensure compliance with ethical and environmental criteria throughout the production process. - Prioritising products designed to be repairable and recyclable, thereby reducing the amount of waste generated at end of life. - Encouraging suppliers to adopt responsible waste management practices, in particular reduction at source, recycling, reuse and responsible waste disposal. - Favouring socially committed suppliers that actively contribute to local communities and support social initiatives.
