Why install a rainwater harvesting tank? By 2050, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (ITM) predict that 52% of the world's 9.7 billion people will live in regions experiencing water stress. This term is defined and used by the World Health Organization (WHO) when annual water availability per person is below 1,700 m3. Harvesting rainwater is a good way to preserve this scarce resource while saving money! It is a natural, inexhaustible and free resource! Collected rainwater can be used for various non-drinking purposes, such as irrigating gardens and green spaces, cleaning floors, and washing vehicles and equipment. This further reduces demand for drinking water and helps comply with regulations, particularly during the increasingly frequent heatwaves around the world (see the French order of 21 August 2008 on rainwater harvesting and its use inside and outside buildings).
