Reducing plastic packaging

Everyday action

Why reduce or replace plastic packaging? Around 2.4 million tonnes of plastic packaging are placed on the market in France each year. By 2040, single-use plastic packaging must have disappeared. How can plastic packaging be reduced? Actions to reduce or eliminate single-use plastics include: • Reducing plastic packaging or replacing it with recyclable, reusable alternatives • Acquiring reusable packaging or containers to replace single-use plastic, an option reserved for businesses in catering, retail and beverage manufacturing. ADEME supports businesses in introducing solutions to reduce plastic packaging placed on the market and encourage reuse. This support aims to fund preliminary studies and trials.
