Using recycled paper
Sustainable purchasing
- Solution type
- Everyday action
Why use recycled paper? Non-recycled paper is made from cellulose fibres, meaning it comes directly from the wood of trees. Recycled paper, by contrast, is made from more than 50% existing paper that can no longer be used. Recycled paper production uses less energy and causes less pollution. It uses one third as much water and energy and emits up to 30% less CO2 than producing paper from wood. Using recycled paper therefore reduces an organization’s environmental impact.

Its features
Environmentally friendly
- Preserving wood resources - Reducing pressure on forests - Preserving biodiversity and the climate - Conserving water and energy resources
Second life
Up to 90 kg of recycled paper can be obtained from 100 kg of sorted paper!
Paper fibre can be reused six to eight times
It is therefore important to sort paper properly and use recycled paper.
