Why adopt this eco-friendly practice? 45% of French people favour washing at 40°, a habit with considerable environmental consequences. If everyone reduced the temperature by 3 degrees nationwide, this would save a significant amount of energy and cut CO2 emissions by the equivalent of those produced by more than 23,000 cars in a year! Moreover, today’s washing machines and detergents perform very well even at low temperatures. A 30° programme is therefore more than sufficient, without overdosing detergent, while protecting the fabric fibres.
